The wire is very vulnerable where it enters the plug, and tend to break after a while, usually just after the guarantee expires... it is very simple to replace the mounded-on plug with a standard plug. Remember to use a 3A fuse.

cable is faulty, quite a simple repair if you are familiar, requires full cable, cable costs about£15,

i have just had the same problem and they were making a buzzing noise.
