The left hand sliding door on my ford tranit vh 2001 wont open. I have already replaced the door handle and cable attached to it. I have been told I need a new door locking mechanism??? Can anyone tell me if this is the door locking actuator??? and how do they work

I had the same problem with my side door,I used a screwdriver between the metal runner and the ball catch on the door whilst pulling on the handle,after a few tries i managed to release the catch and the door opened.I used this technique a few times and now the door opens as normal every time...
