16" Craftsman Electric Chainsaw: motor runs but not chain?

I bought an Electric chainsaw from E-bay, made about 15 cuts and the chain stopped moving. I tried to loosen the chain but : nothing. I tried to tighten the chain: nothing. What do I do?

I have the same peoblem with the craftsman electric chain saw. I checked the gear, it is in good condition and runs ok withount the cain. But when I run it with the chain, the engine is running but the chain does not move. The chain tension is ok, chain can be move in the guide bar by hand, when the chainsaw is not connected to power.

I think the chain saw has some other problems. It will cost more to get it fixed from SEARS -- Useless !

I have one with the same issue. The problem is that the plastic gear that has a small metal gear on it that the chain runs on is broken. It cost about $25.00 from Sears, but I haven't ordered one yet. I don't know if it's worth it.

the chain break is not on, there is something wrong with the craftman electric chain saw. i have searched the internet and there our other owners complaining about the same thing.

they called it a bad lot in 2005. Unfortunately the lot has visited 2008.

our sears saw, same make and brand, did the same thing.
brought it to the sears repair store today and they said they do not fix electric. tomorrow my husband is going to call sears. of course we can't find the receipt, but would love to get the saw fixed.

Make sure the chain brake isn't on - its the lever in front of the main handle that you hold. Pull it back hard to disengage it.
