How do i do a FACTORY RESET on my tomtom 300?

My tomtom 300 will not log on to satellites on start up sometimes taking 1 hour or more, repair sites suggest a factory reset but dont say how to do this,
I have performed a normal reset but no luck

I think the factory reset is a menu item on "change preferences" on your tomtom screen
