My potterton performa 28i boiler is completely tempramental. Help?

It comes on and off whenever it wants to and does not resond to the control box on the wall. Hot water is fine. The power from the wall control box to the boiler has been tested so it is not this. Could it be the PCB?

where is the boiler located ?? could be that a frost stat is kicking in if its in a loft or garage

turn the hot water control to off by lowering the hot water temperature knob and see if the heating comes on and off with your heating control.
