I have a similar problem with a kitchen cabinet that has mirrors with designs on them and one of them have several scratches, these now show as black spots since there is no light inside the cabinet. Resilvering would take off the decorations so I need to "fix" the shiny part if I can.
I had thought of using the aluminum foil as the other reader suggested.
I've also considered trying silver paint or that spray chrome... has anyone actually used any of these three repairs and if so which one works best?

Place a piece of foil behind it - the silver should imitate the mirror's appearance.
