HOW TO REMOVE REAR BRAKE HUB ON CITROEN ZX?

LEAKING BRAKE FLUID FROM REAR WHEEL, HAVE GOT NEW BRAKE CYLINDA TO FIT BUT CAN NOT REMOVE HUB
ANDY JONES, March 2008
Drums can be very hard to remove because a lip appears through wear ( file it off after removal) and the self adjusters bring the shoes up to the drum surface. I have bolted a suitably drilled and shaped, length of timber to the drum and wound it left and right as I pulled off the drum. It is much easier with the proper puller, but we don't always have one to hand. Sketch the postions of the brake return springs and especially the self adjust mechanisms otherwise you may be taking it off again when the vehicle fails its MOT brake test!

Prise off the dust cap after removing the wheel - underneath you'll find a large hexagon nut staked in place. Ignore the stake, undo the nut (conventional thread, turn anticlockwise) and the drum should pull off. If it doesn't, lightly tap with a hammer as you pull and rotate it...if its really stubborn you'll need a puller that bolts to the drum using the wheel bolts.
