Dashboard Lights?

My speedo, rev counter, clock, outside temp gauge etc works however when I put my side lights or main beam on it does not illuminate the dashboard.

Any Ideas??

is vehicle,[you dont give make or model] fitted with a dimmer switch for dash lights-it may be turned right down?
