my samsung american fridgefreezer?

my samsung american fridge freezer has stopped freezing although we`ve had it on super freeze . the temp is constantly flashing and it has been like this for a couple of days

Hi there. I have just had exactly the same problem and samsung gave me the details of a local engineer as I couldn't find an engineer willing to look at an american fridge freezer. He went straight to the fault and confirmed it was as the above response stated. My defrost sensor had gone as had my temperature fuse. This caused the back of the freezer unit to freeze up (internally) and not recognise the correct temperature. The engineer defrosted it all (with a wall paper stripper steamer - ingenious - I thought he'd come to decorate) and he changed the parts. Altogether with labour about £78. Although interestingly I noted the parts were approx £7.50 each ... so if you can do it yourself...goodluck

this is a common fault with these fridge freezers. its often connected with the defrost sensors in the back of the unit. if the sensor goes down then the fridge doesnt defrost and subsequently ices up and this eventually stops the fan in the back from spinning. theres much more info as well as links to parts suppliers over on the uk white goods forum(yes, such a place does exist, good old internet eh!!) i fixed mine which had a fault on the fridge side, and it cost me only about 20 quid for the part which just needed plugging in.
