My Honda Izy Lawnmower is very hard to start from cold?

When I bought it, it started first or second time everytime. After a year or so, I found it takes 20 or 30 violent pulls on the starter, which is very painful to me and very frustrating! Once started, it runs well and starts first time everytime I empty the grassbox. Any ideas what this is?

Usually excellent starters and runners, these. However you need to check that the choke is actually coming on, when you push the throttle lever forwards. If you follow the cable towards the carburettor you'll be able to see the choke flap turning (only 90 deg though) when its supposed to.
How come you have grass to cut??
