How to change a drive belt on Indesit IS70CS Tumble Dryer?

Indesit IS70CS. How do I replace the drive belt on the dryer?
Raymond Jones, March 2008
I totally agree, in my opinion chuck it away, I'm pretty good at fixing things but my hotpoint tumble dryer beat me, after a couple of hours struggling and swearing I was left with a load of parts and bleeding knuckles, the belt is just too tight, badly engineered as there should be a spring loaded tensioner. There must be a way but its a trade secret,
I replaced the Hotpoint with an Indesit a year ago and now thats just broke it's belt so has been replaced by yet another new dryer. Not very environmentally friendly is it?

You don't want to do that!
In the absence of any instructions, I just went ahead and tried applying logic.
I had to take half the dryer apart to get the belt over the drum. Then the fun started.
I had to remove the fan to get the belt over the drive shaft, then apply a good deal of brute force and not a little ignorance to stretch the belt over the tension wheel.
Altogether it took me about three hours.
There must be a simpler way to do it, but no-one seems willing to share the secret.
