how do you unscrew the two philips screws?

The screw which holds the the two main plates together are they just hard to unscrew or is their a easier way?
phil, March 2008
the way i done it was got one screwdriver bit and clamped it in a vice sprayed the screws with WD40.got a friend to hold the strightners onto the screwdirver bit i then got another screwdriver and i un screwed the other screw
these screws are one male and the other female if you look at them one head is smaller than the other the small one also has a copper washer below it this is the male screw and the one you unscrew ANTI CLOCK WISE these screws are tight BE SURE YOU USE THE PROPER SCREWDRIVERS OR YOU WILL DESTROY THE HEADS AND NEVER GET THEM OUT
HOPE THIS HELPS
