Amazing, thank you so much this was really helpful about the hidden wing nut....easy peasy after these instructions. X

The two star shaped screws are in fact TORX screws - you will need a T25 screwdriver to unscrew them, available from Halfords.

I have a 2007 Fiesta. All I had to do was undo the two screws on the cover. Gently pull the bottom of the fixing away (out of the bottom grommet) & reach around & grip the bulb holder & twist. The bulb holder is on quite long wires so you can see to change the bulb. Revese those steps & check it works before re screwing the cover back on. The hardest bit is finding a screwdriver bit that fits the screws.

Great ford design. Stick to making tractors.

Tried to change the brake light but the light assembly would not come off after undoing the the two screws did not want to crack the assembly

remove a plastic wing nut situated inside the boot area 'hidden' behind a small flap in the trim. then remove the 2 philips screws and the entire unit will pull away. release 6 clips, 3 down each side and 2 more clips, 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom and you'll gain access to the bulbs.
just two points to add to the above: The 2 screws* are situated between the inside of the light fitting and the rubber boot trim hence not inside the boot area.
*The philips screws are in fact star shapped screws and a philips bit damages them!
