Need to know how to replace a carbon brush in Bernina motor?

Hi -
I collect & enjoy older SM's. Are there any schematics or photos showing how to replace a carbon motor brush in a Bernina motor - specifically a vintage 840 (1983)? I unscrewed the brush cap and cannot see anything... I am not sure of what the exact dimensions of these brushes are, have not bought a replacement yet. The groups mention that there should be a spring as well.

I need to learn to do this because my other machines can probably use the same help..

thanks

Thanks Ken -
my problem is that I do not see anything in the hole - just a brass nut at the opening -
the symptom is this - machine runs on low speed setting, but is extremely s..l...o...w..... on the higher speed motor setting.
Can a motor run without a brush, is it possible there isn't one in there ?

Hello Divni,
There should be a spring and a very small brush, you might be aboe to get a schematic from www.sewusa.com but providing you can get to the motor easily you should be able to fit new brushes.
