The tenison is off in my sewing macine?

the top thread seams to be in a straight line just catching the bottom thread kinda like a dotted line Brother Model #XR-65

Hello Sheri,
First of all change the needle and test sew on zig zag on a normal material such as cotton, if the machine is missing stitches or not picking up stitches you will need to retime the machine.
