rover 45 not starting?

thanks for that john,just wondered in what way the coolant temp sender would be possibly causing this,and i will be asking about the ht leads.

The coolant temperature sensor actually tells the cars ECU how hot it is, and it adjusts the fuelling accordingly...its nothing to do with the sensor that works the temperature gauge though! I can't say that this is the genuine cause but its usually what we replace sooner rather than later! Good luck with things.
