i have a craftsman riding mower 12 horse power briggs and staton will not start but does cranks floods easy cleaned plug and fouls again.if i take air cleaner off and crank,it backfiers,if it were a car i would think the timing is off.thanks for any help
I took the head off and found the intake valve seat had popped out and held the valve up.I reinstalled the seat put it altogether and it runs fine

Wow! I seem to be having the same problem with my 15.5 hp Briggs and Stratton OHV on a Craftsman riding mower. I did find that my Timing key was sheared and my flywheel was cracked around that timing key slot. I think the backfiring could have caused most of that. But I'm still stuck to trying to get it running again. Biggest piece of s**t mower I've ever bought.
