Hi, I have a 5 yr old Horizon Ti51 HRC Treadmill & had no probs with it until recently. The problem i'm getting is a really bad smell, almost like ammonia, generally after 25 - 50 minutes use. It's so bad, the whole house smells within minutes. I called Horizon 6 wks ago. An engineer came out & fitted a new motor & i was charged £111. I pointed out to him also that during use, the elevation motor would periodically engage for a split second, without me pressing any buttons, every 3 or 4 minutes. He didn't think this was important, but checked everything, lubricated & tightened the belt & left. I used the treadmill the next day & after 25 minutes the smell returned, worse than before. I contacted Horizon again & the engineer returned 3 wks later! I used the machine for 1 hour before he came, hoping the problem would recurr, & it did, but the smell was much less noxioux than before & the engineer claimed the smell was normal. Anyway, since he left the smell has returned worse than ever, after just 20 - 30 minutes use & i'm at my wits end. The smell really is unbearable, burning the nostrils. It smells dangerous. The treadmill stands off the carpet, on a mat. It takes a 3 pin right-angle cable. The engineer pointed out i was using a pc cable to power it, but that it shouldn't make any difference. I have since replaced with the correct cable, but to no avail. It might be worth pointing out also that I can run the treadmill with nobody on it for an hour or more without it smelling at all & without any component parts getting hot. Can anybody help?
