oil loss in renault megane 1998 rtsport?

where else can I be losing oil from dosnt seem to have oil in water.I had an oil change and it was over filled and oil started spraying over exhaust oil level has now stabilised at half full. Besides the head gasket is there any where else it could leak from

Two places spring to mind.....one is from the oil filter cartridge itself (very close to the exhaust system) and the other is from the rocker cover gasket.
