Accenta +......Everything's lit up!?

Hi all,

I think that you lot might be able to help me out here. I'll picture the scene....we've got an alarm system with an Accenta + keypad and a control box under the stairs with just a red light on and "G3" on it. All was working fine until Dad decided to do a bit of DIY and rip what he thought was an obselete Telewest box off the living room wall when he was painting. (We're on BT). The trouble is, about half a second after he did this, all the phone sockets went dead (we now only have one house phone) and every single light on the keypad lit up. As well as that, the alarm is unusable as pressing a button doesn't do anything. No beeps. Nothing.

Now then, after some investigation, I've found the wires that terminated in the Telewest box. There are a lot of phone wires and some live (I found out the hard, painful way) what looks like alarm cabling. Red, blue and yellow wires. Now I'm assuming that these were connected to the phone wires in some way so that in years gone by, when the alarm went off, it alerted some central station. We have not had this feature at all....well...the alarm's gone off about 50 times and no bizzies have ever turned up!

Is there any way of resetting the alarm (and if so, will this fix it?) or do I need to do something with the alarm wires that don't go anywhere? Would my diagnosis be correct about the telephone/alarm bit because I can't think of anywehere else those wires would be going. (It's an outside wall and the boxes are on the other side of the house).

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Adam

Sounds like the tamper has been triggered, when he took the box out. try www.ukpanels.com.
They have a number (bt local rate) on thier site, you can call to sort it.
