kenmore ultra wash dishwasher 665.17519 won't stop running?

The dishwasher won't leave the washing, sensing cycle and go to the drying cycle. Have checked the temp of the water (manual says to check that) The dishwasher will run literally all day until I manually stop it.

Seems that resetting the console works. Thanks for the tips and info!

I just moved into my first house (dishwasher included). I bought all of my dishes and put them in for a wash before putting them away. I went upstairs for about 2 hours to put my bed together and when I came down it was still washing. I will try to reset it.

thanks for the tip

Same thing just happened to me! It will run and run - I can't tell if its washing or rinsing but it will not stop, and will not go to the drying cycle.

I have the same problem. I read the following answer related to resetting the cycle in Kenmore dishwashers.

I will not be able to get to my dishwasher until Saturday to test this out but, please let me know how it goes for you ...

"Hitting "heat dry/normal/heat dry/normal" in sequence, and then hitting "cancel" when all the lights lit up worked! We were told that we needed to run hot water in the sink to pre-heat the water so that the dishwasher did not think that the heating element had failed. This tip saved us an expensive visit by a Sears Technician. Sears would not give us this info over the phone. So much for customer service."

I have the same issue with my 665.1704 dishwasher. I removed it to redo the floors. It was working without a single issue for over 2 years. As soon as I re-installed it, the unit started failing. It would go through the wash start up sequence and then the dreaded flashing green light would come on. Seven flashes. I found the thread on the "heated dry" , "normal wash" button fix for it to go though a diagnostic reset and I thought I was out of the woods. The green light stopped flashing. I know the water is hot so that isn't the issue. Now, I can get the unit to go into any wash cycle and it stays in wash mode for hours. I have to cancle it in order to make it stop. Well, no green light now but I am still washing dishes. The one cycle that seems to work all the way through is the "quick rinse" cycle. Once this cycle is complete the unit simply stops. No clean light or anything. Can anyone provide some tech tips or personal experiences where this issue was overcome. The dishwasher is fairly new and does great when it is working.
