How can I access the switch mechanism on a dyson DC04 vacuum cleaner?

The power cable is become loose after much use and needs reconnecting more securely. I cannot see how to remove the casing for the switch to access the electric cable and switch.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi James

No offence Richard M but forget drilling and mesing around for 3 hours just take 2 miniutes and go on www.sparesaver.com they have a full step by step guide to take out the pld cable and fit a new one its just so simple they sell the tool you need at a very cheap price.

See the answers from Steve W and Steve D. Follow their instructions and you'll sort it. It's VERY fiddly and frustrating but I got there in the end (after about 3 hours of trying to locate the plastic switch retainer down the side of the switch)by following the method of drilling into the side casing. It sounds more drastic than it is as the holes are on the inside of the casing so can't be seen afterwards.
