What power cords can I use for my monitor?

I have an lcd monior (vt-988) that needs a 12V DC / 3.3A (40 watt max.) power cord, can I use any power cord with these specs?

Yes, as long as you get the polarity right.
On the back of the monitor or on the old PSU, there should be a small symbol that shows where the + and - goto.
