Why won't my Troybilt 2 cycle attachment trimmer continuously rotate?

I have a Troybilt Staight Shaft 70SS 31 cc 2 cycle attachment capable trimmer. When I initially start the trimmer it rotates and cuts weeds like a champ. After about few minutes of operation it stops rotating and the engines continues to race. I stop and restart it and it works for about awhile and stops rotating again. I continue this process until I complete my yard. Needless to say this is quite irritating. Is this a simple fix? I am at the verge of purchasing a new one very soon. Thanks in advance.

The most common issue, as I have recently discovered, is the female attachment end inside shaft. It gets rounded out over time and need to be replaced. You can contact Troy Bilt or a local machine shop.

You will have to remove the handle and disconnect it from the motor to take the part out.

I have the exact same problem. Did you ever figure out how to fix it?
