I have a broken bottom plate underneath the power sweeping head on a Sears Kenmore canister vacuum. Do you know how to remove the bottom plate without damaging the upper housing? I believe it is the same plate that needs to be removed to replace a broken belt in the power head.

Remove the lid where the light is and you will find two screws that need to be removed before it comes apart.
