Another Hotpoint Mistral FF question. Cooling Fan?

1. Should the cooling fan next to the compressor run each time the compressor runs or is it temperature related ?

2. With the power off , should the fan be free to rotate easly. (Mine isn't it's quite jerky when trying to push it round) ?

3. Is it an easy job to replace it if its faulty and any idea of cost ?

Many thanks in advance

The fan should run each time the compressor runs and no it does not have a belt to drive it - it is not hard to replace the fan but pull plug out first

The fan could well be 'jerky' due to the tension of the belt that runs it. The fan and the compressor are temperature related. The fan works when the system tells it to. so Does the compressor. Having said that, some models run the fan on a timer. It is quite a complcated system. Providing the correct temperatures are being reached, and your electricity bill hasn't suddenly shot through the roof, I would say your system is ok. You ca always contact several engineers for a quote to see if it is worth paying for them to check it out for you.
