Can I fix my tumble dryer myself?

I have a Hotpoint CDT00 condenser dryer, about six weeks ago it started to sometimes shut off the electricity half way through a cycle and other times it would work as normal and it would always switch back on if I left it for a few hours. Yesterday it cut the electricity so I unplugged it and left it overnight but when I tried to turn it back on today it cuts the electricity every time. I know that it's shorting but has anybody got any advice on what this might be, can I fix it myself and if I can't how much will it cost me to get it repaired?

It sounds like the heater coils might be damp, I've had this problem with my dryer.
Take off the back panel and the sub panel which is at the bottom at the lefthand side. Dry out the heater coils completely then replace panels, hope this helps.
