Is there some reset button when a machine stops working?

I have a Kenmore model 90 automatic zig-zag sewing machine, bought used. It began to work immediately, but when there were a few threading problems, the thread got sort of tangled in the material and in the machine, it just completely stopped working. The light still comes on, so there's some power, but nothing happens when I press the pedal. It has been some years since I sewed and I should have reviewed at least the manual before trying to start blindly. I'm afraid it's really broken. Please help!

Hello Benita,
There is no reset button on your machine, check these things first.
Plug is completely pushed in the machine unless it is wired straight to the motor, no broken wires on the foot control end, release the stop motion as if to wind a bobbin, press on the control lightly and wiggle the wires about that go to the foot control, no joy so far then undo the foot control to see if anything is broken in there, if that is okay then unscrew the side panel on the machine and check the wires to make sure none are broken, if you do have a foot control that plugs into the machine check the pins on the machine to make sure none are pushed in, failing all this if the machine does not work but the light is on the chances are you will need a new foot control.
