Have a look at the back axle and see if you can see a small shiny brake disc with a spring loaded rod going to it. The disc should have one pad either side of it, and as the brake rod is operated it brings the pads into contact with the disc. One of the pads is adjustable by a small allen screw - if my memory serves!
