It really depends on what ratchet mechanism is used in the rear axle...some click like hell, others rotate the drive belt and others can be pulled back smoothly. Often its just as easy to lift the back wheels up when you pull back. You can usually inspect the ratchet mechanism by removing the rear wheels to have a look - but careful as you go as pins and springs can go AWOL!
