why would my dyson keep stopping after working for about 30 seconds?

My dyson dc07 had had blocked filters, these have now been dealt with but the hoover will work for about 30 seconds and then stop. Now it will not even turn on.!!!

hi penny, problem with 07 is, the clear container with the 7 cyclones starts to block up, like yourself most people change or clean filters, because they are aware that vacuum is not lifting properly, unfortunately, because the cyclones get blocked worse, this then doesnt allow motor to circulate the air freely, it starts to cause motor to overheat, 07 motor is fitted with overheat protector, this protector then senses overheating and cuts out, at first it maybe lasts for half an hour before cutting out, but this time gets less and less, after all the times of stopping and starting it damages motor, as i think it has in your case, problem being, if you replace motor, your original fault is still there, namely cyclone unit, so you would have to repace both, definitely not worth it, we have repaired dysons since they came out, and in my opinion this is the worst one, they seemed to change the operating principle of dysons when they brought out this model, if you like dyson, take my advice, the best and most economical model was dco1, they dont make anymore, but if you know any reputable dealer who is selling recond, if you feel you can trust them, buy this model, the problems you are having does not exist in earlier model, good luck johnsemple@blueyonder.co.uk

If the filter below the dust drum was black in colour, its likely that the motor has burnt out. The cooling air to the motor relies on this filter being clean. Any funny smell from the lower filter area?
