Funny that, mine just blew up today after 6 years, pretty good kettle I must say. I think I can fix it as I took it apart earlier this evening, I'll be happy to buy a spare but it looks pretty easy to fix, simply take the base apart, and replace the cable with a 13a fused cable, of course you have to remove the clips ath the end of the dead cable carefully so they don't break, put them on your new cable and your kettle should be goos as new.
