Petrol smell in vauxhall zafira 1.6?

Hi

I have a zafira 1.6 T reg which when the windows are open you get a very strong smell of petrol. I have noticed that 2 holes have been drilled into the petrol cap so i have covered them with tape but still will not eliminate the prob.

Can anyone help.

I had a funny petrol smell in my vauxhall cavalier. Whenever I would turn on my fan, I would smell it, but if I turned it off, then it wouldn't be too bad. Open the bonnet and check all the fuel lines. I noticed that one of my fuel lines had a small cut in it, so if you were to just touch it while the engine was on, then the fuel would come out of that cut. Replacing it is cheap, but a little tricky if you're doing it for the first time, cos those fuel lines are awfully tight to fit round the pipes.
