some time ago whilst printing off the internet, it asked me if I wanted to print in just black. I ticked yes, which was fine, until now when I want to print in colour. The box on properties was not ticked and I don't know how to go back to colour printing.

click 'start' on your desktop.then 'control panel' then 'printers and other hardware' then pick 'printers and fax' then right click your printer and select 'printing preferences'.somewhere within here you should be able to find print colour command tick box.hope this helps!
