Escort 1.8 diesel won't start?

I have the above van for work. I've had it a few weeks and it takes 2-3 goes in the morning to get it started, after that it runs fine.

This morning though it is dead. Took battery off and charged it, took about 1 hour, put it back on, nothing.

No clicks, bumps, nothing. Was wondering if starter motor could be my next place to look?

Anyone had similar?

Thanks for that. Found problem, broken wire from starter to solenoid. Bl**dy thing. Now I need to get the new wire fitted to the starter motor, but I cant see how it fits, no sign of a pop on clip or nut.

a battery takes longer than 1hr to charge if its dead!!.diesels use lots of battery power before you turn them over because the glow plugs are turned on and this would collapse the battery voltage before you have chance to start it.as for poor starting, you might find some of the glow plugs have failed and need replacing.check van with good battery before looking elsewhere for fault diagnoses.
