I tried all sorts here. Cleaned plate and all parts around there, changed cartridges, wobbled them, turned on and off unplugged and then plugged in USB and power cables still got red lights

Fantastic. Solved my problem (both red lights flashing fast together, no printing. Said on screen "check connection lead disconnected" when the connection was OK) by moving the carriage a little by hand. All now well. Thanks!

just had the same problem today 6th of jan 2009 , 2 lights flashing, the answer is'nt above , the answer to slove the problem , i found by chance, turn off the printer and take out ubs cable, open up the top and move along the ink cart to reveal the resting plate and ink pad, all i did was to wipe the plate of ink and also the little sponge , leave the ink cart where they are .plug in the leads and press the green button and the ink cart will go up and down as normal and come to rest as normal at end of printer and the reds lights should be out and just the green light on., hope thios helps

Chances are the print head is not seating correctly, turn off the printer, jiggle the prints head slightly, push it right and move it to the left, then back again, there is a seat that rises up and seats the cart over the sponge, sometimes it catches and will not release, do above until cart releases and seats and power up and see no lights a flashing
