Below is a series of emails that may help you, I have not sorted it all yet.

Hi Alex,
Yes, a new board would still need to be reprogrammed, so you would still need a call-out.
The location of the fridge freezer wouldn't make any difference, especially this time of the year.

Hi Phil
thank you for you help,
I wonder if I could intrude upon your time a little more.
I was not aware, when I emailed you the first time, that some or all fridge freezers wont work well in an unheated space.
The space in this case is is a utility room attached to our kitchen it is well built 4" brickwork.
I noticed that the freeze has a thermostat so I would surmise they are separately controlled in this case, also I have not noticed a seasonal difference in the operation fault.
I am a little concerned because I have booked next Tuesday with repaircare at £100 fixed price. At the moment I don't know if they can reprogram it. I could still cancel the appointment.
Would it be cheaper for me to fit a new board, or has it also got to be programmed after fitting?
Or have I simply got to get it into a warmer place?
Thank You
Alex

Hi Alex,
I agree with you that it sounds like a fault with the PCB module.
This model has an eeprom on the module which can be re-programmed.
Hotpoint engineers have the equipment to do this and also some independant engineers, but you will have to phone around to find out which ones have the equipment.

Dear repairer no1
We our appliance is 2 or 3 years old,
Hotpoint Future Frost Free FF200E
We had poor performance and then the fridge stopped working altogether but the freezer was still working.
I opened up the inside back of the freezer and discovered a large block of ice covering the coils right up to and blocking the vents that lead up to the fridge.
Upon removing the ice I found that the drain hole had not been properly drilled out, it looked like amateur work.
I drilled it out hoping for no more trouble.
However we cannot get it to perform as it is supposed to, (I monitor both parts with independent thermometers).
As you probably know there are two dial controls at the top and two boost buttons.
In their central supposedly ideal positions the , if I try to turn the freezer down to get a temperature of at least -18 degrees, the fridge drops below 0 degrees and everything in the fringe freezes ,
I have opened it up again recently and there was a little frost on the coil but not blocking it, I assume that is normal.
My grasp of the finer details of its operation is limited , but I feel the motherboard must be at fault as all the parts operate, my deduction is that the fan is not being instructed correctly.
Does it run in both directions?
PS. when I press the boost button it seems to run forever I though that it was only supposed to go for an hour. consequently we never use those buttons.
Can you figure this out?
Yours Respectfully
Alex Stowell
