My Rover 214i P reg wont start?

This is an intermittent fault - The car is ok during the week when I travel to work (approx 13 miles) - and back. When it has been left for over 24 hrs standing- the battery hasn't enough power to fire the engine up. I've changed the battery (twice) and had a new starter motor fitted. It will jump start with very little power required from the other vehicle.

Hi

Me and my boyfriend have just had the same problem. The car would run fine one day and wouldn't start the next, especially when it had been left over night in the rain.
The engine would turn over, but wouldn't fire up. Eventually, 8/10 times we got it started.

It went into the garage last week and it's now all fixed. The problem we had, which sounds like yours, was that water was getting into the engine and mixing with the petrol. It now starts first time, everytime, without a delay.

The only other problem it could be is that you have enough charge in the battery, but not enough cranking amps, which starts the engine.

I would recommend that you visit a garage soon in case the problem you have is the same as ours. Our garage said that if we had left it any longer, then we would of been looking at a whole, bigger problem.
