how can i fix what seems a major problem on my car?

have a problem with my ford focus 1.6. Its been a dream up until a couple of days ago! But on friday it started to play up.
The Speedometer wierdly jumps about on occasion and the car jumps about when accelerating. i have also noticed a substantial decrease in the power when it accelerates.
wondering what could be causing this problem and how it can be fixed?

Sounds like VSS (vehicle speed sensor) Located on the top/rear of the gearbox. Gives exact symptoms u describe. About £28 from Ford but a pain to fit due to steel roll pin that holds it in. Very common problem.

Sounds like you have an ECU (electronic control unit) fault. This may be rectified by reprogramming the management system. Your local garage or engine tuner should be able to read the fault on a machine.
