My honda XR125 is snagging - on a 54 plate?

Hello there, I would appreciate your comments, my bike has had the carb cleaned and the jets, a new chain and sprockets and now a new clutch, it is still snagging, you get past the biting point on the clutch and it judders - it only happens when the bike is hot and is worse in first gear - like for example when you are trying to do hill starts and control work. Can anyone help me please.

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your help, the clutch seems to have settled in nicely after doing quite a lot with it last night - it's a great little bike and running really well now.

Thanks again

Karen

Hi
In the past i've had Honda sports bikes not selecting neutral when hot and the gearbox having problems, and this was down to the steel clutch plates having burring on the teeth but if the full clutch has been replaced, this should not happen, maybe wear on the clutch drum?

Hi John

many thanks for all your pointers, we'll give them a go. All of the work to date has been under warranty as I haven't had the bike for very long. The chain did have two worn links in and has been totally replaced as has the sprockets and all of the clutch has been done entirely so maybe it will be better after a few hours of using it. thanks very much

Hello

Thank you for your quick responses - funnily enough it isn't very good selecting neutral when it's hot, sometimes I can't get it in neutral at all but put it down to my lack of riding experience. My hubby who has been riding 20 years doesn't seem to have a problem with that part but he has experienced the juddering.

The garage have replaced the entire clutch and have told me that it will take time to bed in - they would not commit to how long - the clutch being changed has removed a lot of it but it still does judder - particularly when hot.

Thanks for your help and comments I appreciate it very much

Karen

PS I do love my bike.

Hi
How is the bike selecting neutral when hot?

Very strange Karen - normally this would be a clutch fault. However if it has been replaced we assume that all of the plates were done, and the oil changed too. The next thing would be a very worn or dry final drive chain - but thats new too? So - are the engine bolts tight? Are the chain drive sprockets tight? See that there is about 6mm clearance at the clutch lever to handlebar when it is fully out. I do suspect the clutch though - ideally all of the friction plates, all of the pressure plates and the springs replaced too, which must be tightened evenly.
