I have an 04' 326p5x pole saw. The gear housing is cracked. I have a new housing and removed everything except the gear drive. I want to pound the thing out with a hammer after getting so frustrated but am afraid that I may break it. Is there some tool to pull the gears out?

I had to repair a hedge trimmer gear case and it was not made to be repaired. I drilled a hole side opposite the pinion gear so that I could use a shaft to press out the gear using a hydraulic press.
