Does CDI restricts the spark?

I was told that CDI restricts the amaunt of sparks created in the motor which does not let him go faster (sorry for my english people)

The CDI unit - or Capacitor Discharge Ignition - is actually an electronic device that takes a tiny signal from the ignition system and amplifies it to provide a spark at the sparking plug. If it is faulty the engine won't run at all.
