There's a knocking noise from the front driver's side!?

I have a Ford Focus and there is a loud knocking noise coming from the front driver's side. It seems to happen when I lift off the accelerator. Can anyone tell me what it is? Thank you!

usually wishbone bush, its a rubber sleeve around a suspension component that can fail leading to metal to metal contact, resulting in an awful knocking noise, try bouncing on the affected side while stationary, while getting a friend to locate exact location.
