How can I fix my Gainsborough 10.5 SCL Electric Shower?

I have a Gainsborough 10.5 SCL electric shower that has suddenly given up spraying water except a trickle. On the cold settings water just trickles out and on the hot it sounds like a kettle and begins to steam (so I switch it off quickly). Water pressure is OK, filter is OK. When I remove the hose from the shower it still trickles out of the outlet.

Previous amswers have suggested either the shower vessel is limescaled or there is a block in the flow valve.

Does anyone have any ideas how to repair or is it scrap?

I've dismantled several failed Gainsborough showers, 8.5kW and 10.5kW, and they all showed the same fault. There is a control diaphragm that sits between the input (mains) and output (heated) water that splits due to not being good enough for repeated on/off operation of the front push button. It's bespoke to this shower design so cannot be replaced with another part. Crap design and Gainsborough spares dept will only sell you a complete shower engine for want of a few pence worth of failed rubber. Shocking quality and service.

Hi Jack,
I had a play around but gave up and went down to B&Q and bought a new one. It took me about 5 minutes to fit it, and the old one went in the bin (the recycle bin, of course).

Hi, we have exactly the same problem with our Gainsborough 9.5E electric shower. We've called in a plumber today and he said we needed to get rid of that one and get a new one fitted. I'm wondering if you managed to fix yours or did you have to get a new one?
Cheers,
Jack
