Ignition warning light .....query?

Hi, Car sparks out there.

I've just had an alternator replaced (new) after the old one died.

...strange things happening with the ignition light though. When switching on before turning the engine over (Fiesta diesel LX) there's no light illuminated now, however, it flickers slightly as the engine turns before firing then it's off as usual when it starts.

Is there a short (?) somewhere or should I be concerned about anything like battery discharge or nothing getting back to the battery chargewise?

perplexed.

thanks in anticipation

check small wire on alternator -it may have a break in it usually where it comes out of loom or connector on to alternator. whilst engine cranking/moving could be making connection momentarily.

Hi Chris, if the warning light does'nt come on when you first switch the ignition "on" then the alterator is faulty, go back to where you got the replacement from and do'nt leave untill you get a working unit!! and get them to prove that it is putting out the correct voltage 14.4v with all electrics on (headlights full beam, rear screen heater, heater fan,)
