How can I fix my TARUS T4500 Chainsaw? Well I'll tell you!?

Problems with Dirt in the carb? Yes! Then read on!
Frosty, April 2008
I have nothing but problems with my Tarus chain saw, the starter chord breaking consistently and the replacement parts (4 so far have just the same problem) there are design fault at every level, starter, carb and cheap plastic casing. I have had to strip the carb each time I use it so it does become a real pain. I would suggest spending a little more and get a chain that is reliable and can actually does the job you want!!!!

You may wonder what the TARUS T4500 18" Chainsaw is like, Cheap but sturdy and not to heavy, Mine came with a Carlton K2 saw chain, half Ltr fuel/oil mixing bottle, chain sharpening file. £60 inc postage!
Overall good value for money! But look out for dirt in the carb! But it doesn,t take much to sort out! Keep reading!

Dont forget to renew the silicon sealer every time the Air cleaner is removed for cleaning!

Frosty, April 2008
The Air filter does not seal completely! Allowing saw dust etc into the carb causing starting and running problems, That's not good! design fault! Maybe? If you remove the Air cleaner and you can see dust in the carb inlet you have probably got a carb full of it! so the carb will have to be removed and cleaned.
Only do this though if you are competant!
The best method is provention! (Don't let it get in there in the first place!) On mine, I have added two rubber O'rings to the outside of the round hole which sits down into the carb intake and a bigger O'ring stretched around the outside of the Air cleaner to carb mount, so when it's all put together and tightened it makes a perfect seal!
Sorted!
Not quite!
If you look inside the Air cleaner you will see the mounting hole is not a plastic tube all the way through? And the securing Finger nut does not have a round seal where it meets up agianst the Air cleaner? This also allows dirt directly into the carb! whats going on with these designers?? I was lucky enough to find a plastic tube that fitted into the Air cleaner hole that went through to meet the hole in the bottom, making a tube right through! It also reduced the hole to the same size as the mounting bolt that goes through it. Failing this, you could always mount the Air cleaner over the mounting bolt and apply some (silicon) sealer compound around the top where there is a gap between the bolt and Air cleaner. Sorted! At last!

I hope this helps if you are having this Dirt in the carb problem.

I have had no Dust in the carb trouble's sinse!

I wish you the same.

Cheers!

Frosty.
