hello jim the answer to that question depends on the braking system discs or drums but if you have discs just remove them to get to the shoes and if you dont just remove the drum jack up the car using axle stands secure the front wheels with a chock let the handbrake off pull up the little tray that lies underneeth the handbrake ( just unclips) then slide the handbrake cover then you will see the adjuster screw with a rubber on the end let the handbrake off go to either side of the rear brakes check the cables and the handbrake lever assembly if alls good on the top u should see an adjuster with a bolt check the movement in the bolt if there is none clean and regrease the mating surfaces with copper grease and steel brake cables with the car still on axle stands go inside the car with the handbrake off and using a long reach socket adjust the bolt on the adjuster untill you feel firm resistance in the handbrake check the rear drums/discs for play bleed the system n jobs a good one
