How can I fix my ironing board?

My ironing board collapsed, folded, and a metal rod fell onto the floor. I cannot see where or how to reattach this metal rod. The ironing board will not stand up without it. It is about 16" long with a flattened piece on one end with a hole in it. Please help!
I do not know the manufacturer of the board, but I bought it in Homebase. (A very large board with striped cover with stripes in pink, beige, brown and other similar shades).

The rod goes into the metal piece with the hole in it and then into the spring and finally through the cross frame of the ironing board hole. And the latch handle will then when pushed will apply pressure on the catch plate allowing it to glide in the track opening and catching to stand at desired height.

Same thing happened to me! I found lots of other victims, but no information on how to fix it. I could just buy a new one because it was inexpensive, but I have only used it once. It's more principal now--I should be able to figure it out! Good luck!
