Can a rear-end collision cause timing chain to break, or malfuntion?

I was rear-ended while driving my nissian quest 2000 van and one week later the van would not start and maybe the timing chain. Could this be from the impact of the collision?

Nissan has a problem with early failure of their timing chains. there is currently a class action. I recently had a rear end collision and now my timing chain is going bad.....
