Ford Ka - Idle Valve & Torx Bolts?

referring to an answer below, what are torx bolts and where can i get them, are they easy to fit? (im a lady but i'll have a go at anything lol).
My ka is reving when changing up a gear. My friend who is a mechanic has suggested cleaning the idle valve, but im looking ahead if this doesn't do the trick....... but my friend said cleaning the idle valve is easy to do, just need a spanner and some WD40, otherwise it should cost no more than £10 for a garage to do it, takes bout 10 minutes apparently. (He lives 90 miles away so not ideal to go to him)

Hi Sarah, "torx" bolts are basically the same as normal bolts but instead of hexagonal heads on them they have a six sometimes 12 star shaped internal head, Ford use them a lot on parts of the engine, it means the bolts can be done up to a higher torque force, as to your idle control valve I wouldn't use WD40 "spray carb cleaner" is designed to remove the sticky petrol deposits that are causing the valve to stick, WD40 will leave an oily deposit behind that with engine heat will cause the valve liable to stick again, I think you would be lucky to get a garage to do it in 10 mins!! they would charge a minimum of 1 hour!! it's about a 30 min DIY job two normal 10mm bolts and a electrical connector, its mounted on the inlet manifold it looks like a small cola tin, if you want a picture of what it looks like nige110162@hotmail.co.uk and I'll mail you a picture
